Costume Discounters Review

When the calender says it is back to school time, my brain says start planning. As we all now once school starts we all now how times seems to fly. Before we know it, it will be Halloween time. Halloween is a quick one day ordeal, but I never seem to be able to do it frugally has I hope. If you have never visited costumediscounters.com, I suggest you do. I was very surprised by the prices of many of their items.

When I was presented an opportunity to review a Halloween costume from costumediscounters.com I jumped all over it. What tween does not love Indiana Jones? Well, mine sure does. After looking at all of the boys costumes, Joel chose the Indiana Jones Distressed Jacket. Even grown kids love to play dress up and mine are no different. Costume Discounters has many movie character costumes. If your sons are not in the movie character costumes, they also carry a great variety of boys costumes

When the costume arrived, Joel was so excited he put it on. I had the camera ready.
We are very impressed by the detail, right down to the worn distressed look of the jacket.

Joel is a normal boy and of course loves the hat. I will work on shaping it more a bit before he wears it again. It looks a bit mangled, due to shipping, I think.

*This is not a compensated post. We did receive a complimentary costume for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone. All opinions are 100% mine.

Are you looking for some help this summer with your cell phone bill? Are you searching for a low cost phone for your kids so you can keep in touch with them? Have you struggled in the past finding phones to fit your family’s needs? TracFone is here to help!

My 12 year old is not ready for a cell phone with a high monthly plan, but he is ready for a cell phone when separated from the rest of the family. After we did a lot of research we decided on a TracFone. The facts we like about the TracFone include:

• TracFone offers the least expensive way to own and use a cell phone in America.

• There are no contracts, no credit checks, no activation charges or cancellation fees. No surprises!

• Great nationwide coverage and excellent reception/connectivity.

• Brand name phones from leading manufacturers like Motorola, Kyocera, LG, Nokia and Samsung. Choose from simple "Candy Bar" phones, to Bluetooth®-enabled "Smart" phones.

There are many different plans to choose from:

• Pay as you go online or with cards available at thousands of retail stores across the country.

• 1 year service cards give you so much more. Receive double minutes for the life of your TracFone, and 800 minutes, for only $119.00

• “Double minutes for the life of your phone” is a feature that can be purchased separately for only$19.99, but some phones include it!
• Choose monthly plans with 200 minutes for under $30.00, and as low as $9.99 for 50 minutes.

We chose a simple phones for simple needs, calling and texting capabilities for under $10.00.

But TracFone also offers great phones packed with features like camera/video recorder, web access, app capabilities, mp3 player, and full QWERTY keyboard, for $29.99.

I made bread!!

I used the Hillbilly Housewife's recipe for 60 Minute Rolls. Oh MY GOD!! They taste as good as they look! I am going to be making this recipe a lot.

I brought a loaf up to my parents. They raved about this bread and said it makes excellent French toast. My dear Hubby made sandwiches from the rolls to carry in his lunch pail all week.

Alone in the house for 5 hours!

Today I am alone in the house for the first time since May 28, the last day of school. I feel so refreshed and content. This is how I spent my 5 hours, cooking dinner for my menfolk.

First I made crock-pot pizza. It is a fancy version of goulash, with a ton of mozzarella cheese and peperoni.

Next is homemade bread and breakfast pie. The breakfast pie is for Sunday morning. DH's cousin is spending the weekend and the man can eat.

And most importantly I was able to get in a nap and a new blog post. What a great day.

Our Staycation Day #1 Roadtrip

We love summer time with the great warm weather we are having. We would so love to go on a real vacation, but instead we have resorted to day long trips and excursions this year. We were all in the mood for a day trip to Copper Harbor, MI. If you have never been there, go! It is one of my very favorite small towns in the world. Copper harbor is about 2 hours from where we live. We stopped at every little site seeing opportunity along the way.

This is a snow-o-meter measuring the local area's record breaking snow fall in one year 390.4 inches. Can you imagine!? It still snows a lot up here but I am glad I have never seen that much snow.

Our next stop was at Fort Wilkins' State Park. There is a ton of history at this fort. My boys really enjoyed seeing how and where the soldiers of that time lived and worked.

Joel setting off the cannon.

Noah shopping getting supplies for making cookies, he is my cookie monster!!

The ammo depot.

Then to Mount Brockway, it sure does look like a far way down.

Then to the beach for some stick and stone throwing.

After all the walking, working and learning, we had a much needed picnic. Then we started the ride. I think we wore them out because not two words came from the back seat, only snores.

Worldless Wednesday

this sign really made me stop and think. There was an elevator around the corner.

Chickens, chickens and yet more chickens

About 2 years ago, my cousin's kingerten class she was teaching, hatched eggs. They were so cute but grew and grew and GREW. Lisa lives with in the city limits so she had to find a home for her babies. We invited them in our home coop with open arms. Well, it has been quite the learning process with these three additions to our flock. They are bantam Ameraucanas and the go broody in a drop of a hat. With that said, I have baby chickens again, they are the cutest little things and the females are such good mamas!

Here is Rita and her five offspring. See the little ones peeping out.
We have about 28 chickens right now, with 10 that are hens and old enough to lay. We get on average 9 eggs a day. I have two regular buyers for $2.50 a dozen, which goes for feed.
